Field Trainer - Geosciences

Under the supervision of the Field Operations Director, the trainer is responsible for the quality and homogeneity of services offered on-site, the image projected, and the on-site personnel's relations with various stakeholders. In an effort to optimize processes, the trainer is responsible (in collaboration with their manager) for the technical skills and the 'know-how' of field technicians and interns on the team.

The trainer works closely with the field work coordination to establish the team's training needs. They accompany field technicians and interns on-site to provide training and development. They are always available and offer high-level technical support.

Concretely, the trainer is responsible for training, evaluating, and supporting other team members on-site. Depending on operational needs, they may also be called upon to intervene as a technician on various projects of different sizes. Their schedule is managed jointly between the Field Operations Director and the coordination team based on operational needs.

Main Responsibilities

• Train new field technicians and interns on-site;
• Provide accompaniment and development to on-site personnel (including ...);
• Homogenize services offered on-site;
• Increase the overall expertise level of on-site personnel through regular audits;
• Provide customer service on-site: know, meet, and question;
• Participate in updating on-site procedures;
• Participate in the development of the annual technical training;
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies at work (H&S) on-site;
• Participate in the optimization of processes applicable to field work;
• Implement new tools within the field team;
• Evaluate equipment provided to on-site personnel in close collaboration with field coordination teams and equipment managers;
• Perform all tasks of a field technician as needed;
• Participate in the realization of mandates requiring a particular technical challenge on-site;
• Assist and participate in various internal meetings and committees;
• Perform all other related tasks.

Desired Profile

• Hold at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in geotechnical and environmental field work;
• Hold a valid driver's license;
• Hold an ASP card in health and safety;
• Hold the SIMDUT 2015 certification on hazardous materials (an asset);
• Excellent French language skills (oral and written);
