Care Companion

Edda is a non-profit organization located in Montreal. We work to support people with mild to moderate autonomy loss and cognitive and/or mental health disorders in their activities. We aim to combat boredom, loneliness, and social isolation in these individuals, promote their autonomy, well-being, and participation in the community.

The role of the Care Companion is to actively accompany and provide companionship in the most human way possible to often elderly individuals with autonomy loss, physical impairments, cognitive disorders, and/or mental health disorders.

The Care Companion is human, kind, respectful, and non-judgmental towards the older individuals they support and assist in their daily activities.

Tasks: (non-exhaustive list)

• Accompany the person during outings or indoor movements
• Create an unforgettable experience for the person during each visit during your activities together
• Ensure a reassuring presence for the person
• Listen actively and engage in conversation at all times; the person should not feel alone or bored
• Stimulate the person with external and internal activities based on their mood, interests, and health status
• Assist the person with their needs, such as dressing, changing, pushing their wheelchair, etc., during your visit
• Establish a trust and communication relationship with the person, their family, and other interveners
• Be attentive and report any significant changes or situations regarding the person's status
• After each visit, provide a detailed report with a photograph of the person during their activity
• ... any other tasks required for the person's well-being

• Sensitivity to aging issues
• Attention focused on the needs of our users: Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of users, to meet or exceed their expectations
• Demonstrate ethics and professionalism, in accordance with the organization's values.

Job Requirements

• Hold a high school diploma or DEP in person assistance or a related discipline AND/OR Have relevant experience judged relevant
• Experience working with the elderly or in the community setting (an asset)
• Perfect mastery of French oral and written (English: an asset)
• RCR (an asset)
• Have absolutely no legal restrictions (accept verification)
• Already be in Canada and be authorized to work in Canada

Working Conditions

• You will generally work at the user's home. However, you may be required to visit the user at the hospital, for example.
• Salary: 21.00$ per hour
