Our department is part of the Vice-Presidency Project Office and Investments. We are responsible for supporting the execution and delivery of projects and programs. Our service offering is based on several levers: methodological frameworks, harmonization of practices, development of professions, training, and support. In this regard, we contribute to the transversal reputation of our vice-presidency and influence professionals to move towards the organizational vision and performance in delivery while creating value for our members and clients. As a Program Management Practice Leader, you are the representative of the profession and practices of program management within the organization. You intervene in the context of strategic mandates with a transversal nature requiring a deep understanding of programs, their interdependencies, and the organizational issues associated with them. Your mission is to develop excellence in program management at Desjardins by supporting program directors and professionals called to coordinate complex initiatives composed of multiple projects, while promoting the integration of practices between the project management and program management communities. Thanks to your expertise in coaching, program management, and change management, you support the professional development of practitioners and the adoption of best market practices. More specifically, you will be called upon to:

  • Assume a leadership and influence role by representing the interests of program management towards different stakeholders and parties involved in strategic and transversal projects.
  • Contribute to the evolution and continuous improvement of program management practices by promoting ways of working, reference frameworks, and tools that meet the organization's needs.
  • Support program directors and professionals called to lead major initiatives by offering tailored advice and fostering their autonomy.
  • Develop and animate the practice community by creating opportunities for networking, experience sharing, knowledge transfer, and expertise development.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Leader - Project Manager and other practice leaders to ensure the complementarity of expertise, the consistency of practices, and the harmonized evolution of delivery professions.
  • Support the organization in developing its program management capabilities, particularly in governance, benefit realization, interdependency management, strategic prioritization, and transformation leadership.
  • Conduct a market trend and best practice watch to identify opportunities for evolution, innovation, and optimization of program management practices.

What you will bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline
  • At least eight years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • PgMP, MSP, PMP, or other relevant certification
  • Significant experience in program management or leading complex programs
  • Experience in agile and traditional project management
  • Experience in advisory roles in process improvement or practice development
  • Experience in coaching and/or mentoring
  • French language proficiency is required
  • Advanced English proficiency due to the nature of tasks, work tools, or interactions with English-speaking partners, members, and clients
  • Mastery of program management and program governance practices
  • Knowledge of agile and traditional delivery approaches
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Jira, and Confluence tools
