Senior / Expert Java Developer

At CGI, we are looking for a passionate Java Developer (Senior / Expert) with a strong interest in backend architecture, modern cloud environments, and high-impact business solutions. You will participate in strategic projects in the banking, finance, and insurance sectors, within teams that value innovation, software quality, and technical excellence.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of robust and scalable microservices, leveraging a modern technological ecosystem including Java Spring / Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, as well as observability and performance tools. Exposure to the use of AI in development is an important asset for this role.

Work Mode: Hybrid, 2 days on-site

Job Functions and Responsibilities

What You Will Do

• Design and develop backend microservices to meet complex business needs.
• Participate in the architecture and evolution of Java / JEE solutions in an AWS Cloud environment.
• Develop and maintain services integrating technologies such as AWS Step Functions, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, and Kafka.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and development teams to deliver reliable, performant, and secure solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality.
• Participate in operational diagnosis and monitoring using tools such as Splunk and Datadog.
• Integrate, when relevant, AI approaches or tools to support efficiency and innovation.

What We Are Looking For

• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience as a Java Backend or Fullstack Developer.
• Significant experience in Java / JEE backend development, ideally with Spring Boot.
• Strong experience in microservices design and API development.
• Hands-on experience in an AWS environment.
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, containerization, and deployment on Kubernetes.
• Experience or interest in AI applied to technological solutions.
• Ability to work in a demanding business context, with a high level of autonomy and rigor.
• Bilingual French / English*, both spoken and written.
• University degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field, or equivalent academic background.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in the banking sector or regulated environments.
• Advanced expertise allowing you to act as a technical reference for teams.
• Ability to propose architectural choices and influence technical decisions.
• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, and event-driven integration patterns.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, are required, as this position involves regular collaboration with colleagues and partners in North America.

CGI offers a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position. The calculation of this range depends on various factors, including skill level, geographic market, experience, education, as well as professional licenses and certifications. Salary decisions depend on the particularities of each case. A reasonable estimate of this salary range is between $70,000 to $135,000. This position is open.
