Description

*[English version will follow]* ✨ Join Toon Boom – Where Creativity and Technology Meet!

For over 30 years, Toon Boom has been the global leader in 2D animation software, trusted by top studios like Disney, Fox, and Netflix. With innovation at our core, we empower creatives worldwide to bring their stories to life.

Work Location

Our office is located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. We are ideally seeking candidates based in the Montreal area, with 2 days per week in the office, or candidates based in the Toronto area who work fully remotely.

Hiring Status

We are actively hiring for this role! Every application is carefully reviewed, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience—our dedicated HR team of one is working hard to respond to everyone.

What you'll do

Toon Boom is bringing AI-assisted production to 2D animation. Ember — our new family of AI features inside Harmony, beginning with colouring and in-betweening and expanding across pre-production and the production pipeline — compresses the most labour-intensive stages of the animation pipeline while keeping the artist in control of every frame.

Ember changes what Toon Boom sells. For thirty years, studios have bought software licenses from us. With Ember, they will buy production outcomes – that shift demands the existence of this role: someone who can walk a studio floor, read a pipeline the way a line producer does, quantify the value that Ember will deliver, and scale the Enterprise value delivery narrative. This role is the linchpin of Ember's commercial model; few roles anywhere in the software industry are as impactful for the revenue engine.

You will:

  • Own pipeline discovery. Embed with prospect studios to map their end-to-end production pipeline — number of drawings, volume of episodes, team structures, workload by step (weeks-animators per episode for colouring, cleaning, and in-betweening), outsourcing agreements, etc.
  • Develop the value proposition. Model and articulate the value Ember brings, producing a quantifiable and specific-to-each-studio estimate of savings that will serve as the basis for both pricing and sales pitch.
  • Lead technical sales. Conduct demos, define scope, and pilot projects on the client's pipeline, define success metrics for these pilots, and convert measured results of these pilots into sales arguments.
  • Feed the product. Pass on pipeline realities and identified feature gaps to the Ember product team; you will be one of the most important information sources for the roadmap.
  • Codify the method. Develop a reusable value assessment framework (pipeline step effort benchmarks, piloting guides, ROI calculators) that allows this approach to scale beyond your involvement.

What you'll need

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in 2D animation production, in a role offering a holistic view of the production pipeline — line producer, production supervisor, pipeline technician (TD), or studio animation or operations manager. You know the realities of production pipelines and delivery deadlines.
  • You master the entire production pipeline, from pre-production to cut-out animation — you know what each step really costs in terms of labour, how it is estimated, planned, and outsourced.
  • You have a commercial instinct — experience in pre-sales, solution consulting, value engineering, or production scope definition in relation to clients, or proven ability to develop a profitability analysis and present it to management.
  • You are comfortable with numbers : you are able to develop and defend an effort/cost model in a spreadsheet and explain your assumptions to production managers.
  • You have excellent communication skills : you are comfortable making a presentation to an audience including both an animation supervisor and a finance director.
  • You are proficient in Toon Boom Harmony (highly appreciated); deep knowledge of equivalent production tools will also be considered.
