Bureau Veritas is looking for a Laboratory Sample Archivist to join our environmental laboratory in Ville Saint-Laurent.

Please note that this is a contract until mid-December, with the possibility of extension (depending on the laboratory's needs and your performance).

Your main tasks will include

  • Managing the location of samples, archiving, retrieval, and disposal;
  • Maintaining cold rooms in order and clean;
  • Sorting soil and water samples on a daily basis by numerical order and file number;
  • Daily disposal of samples that have reached their disposal date;
  • Organizing the storage of samples from clients and contracts that require them to be retained for an extended period;
  • Retrieving samples that are stored for additional analyses;
  • Responsible for the location and retrieval of legal samples;
  • Maintenance of grinding equipment;
  • Informing clients in writing and awaiting their confirmation for the disposal of samples that were required for extended storage;
  • Maintaining a list of clients, toxins, disposal, and retrieval in a briefcase for reference;
  • Working closely with project managers to determine the disposal, retrieval, or return time of samples to clients;
  • Working with the customer service team – sample entry and project managers to provide clients with good service within very short deadlines;
  • Following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established by Bureau Veritas Laboratories for sample archiving and disposal;
  • Monitoring and recording the temperatures of cold rooms and Sample Reception Refrigerators in the logbook on a regular basis;
  • Maintenance and organization of the back section of the warehouse, keeping aisles clear;
  • Providing assistance in the preparation and sending of containers to clients in an organized, professional, and reasonable timeframe;
  • Adhering to and participating in all Quality Assurance policies and procedures.

You are an ideal candidate if you

  • Hold a high school diploma;
  • Have experience in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment;
  • Are capable of working both autonomously and in a team;
  • Pay attention to detail and are organized;
  • Have the ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions precisely;
  • Are dynamic, energetic, motivated, and have a positive attitude.

Working Conditions

  • Work schedule: Day AND night, including weekends;
  • You must be available for additional time during the peak season (1-2 hours/day) from May to December;
  • Please note that flexibility for overtime is required to meet the laboratory's needs. It is important to note that overtime is not optional in this role. We expect you to work overtime according to your supervisor's directives, even if the need arises unexpectedly on a given day;
  • Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week;
  • For this position, you must be comfortable working standing for long hours.
