Description
Ensure the reception of raw materials, handling of work-in-progress or finished products, and the shipment of products according to established procedures using appropriate tools and equipment in compliance with the company's requirements and procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, inspect, and unpack received merchandise to ensure it is in good condition and the correct quantity, as indicated on the receipt documents
- Sign the transporter's documents, noting any irregularities or special situations
- Store received merchandise in appropriate locations according to established procedures using available tools and equipment
- Operate a forklift
- Transmit receipt documents according to procedure
- Check the condition of tools and equipment, particularly the forklift, to ensure they are in good working order before use
- Respond to plant needs and handle materials, components, work-in-progress, or finished products
- Store merchandise or products in required locations according to established company methods
- Become familiar with shipping documents to organize work
- Prepare orders for shipment by counting and verifying they match the shipping document
- Package products or place them on pallets or other methods according to customer specifications
- Ensure packaging is adequate and remove any non-conforming packaging, then load trucks using appropriate equipment
- Complete shipping documents and ensure the order for shipment is complete; otherwise, report any irregularities to the immediate supervisor
- May be required to weigh products for shipment
- Complete any other documentation related to activities for the purposes of production and/or quality tracking and control
- Maintain shipping areas
- Strictly adhere to established quality and safety standards in the performance of all tasks
- Ensure regular maintenance and cleaning of machines and equipment operated
- Maintain equipment used according to established frequencies and methods
- Organize the work area to be easily assisted in case of absence
- Clean the work area and store used tools/instruments in designated locations
- May be called upon to perform other tasks within competence as needed or at the request of the immediate supervisor
Desired Profile
- D.E.S. or equivalent secondary level education
- Any combination of education and experience may be considered relevant
- Knowledge of working in an automated environment – common software
- Forklift operation
- Knowledge in the metal transformation sector – asset
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments (tape measure, micrometer, etc.) – asset
- Concern for precision, order, and cleanliness
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Autonomy and ability to take initiatives to optimize performance
- Judgment and resourcefulness
- Discipline and rigor for compliance with company rules
