- Who We Are
The origins of Jean Coutu Group date back to 1969, when the first establishment opened in Montreal by its founder, Mr. Jean Coutu. He designed, for the retail sector of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products, an innovative formula based on wholesale sales of a wide range of products, quality service, and long opening hours. Today, the Jean Coutu network is among the most reputable names in the Canadian retail pharmacy industry and has a network of 417 franchised establishments in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario.
In May 2018, METRO acquired Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. The merger of these two major companies creates a retail leader of $18 billion, in a position to meet the growing needs of consumers in food, pharmacy, health, and beauty.
