Mechanical Engineer

Overview

To support its growth, the Plant Engineering division of AtkinsRéalis Engineering – Minerals and Metals is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its specialized department involved in industrial and mining project execution.

The Quebec team consists of direct and indirect employees at all levels, participating in diverse mining and industrial projects, including major projects across Quebec such as the Nouveau Monde Graphite concentrator, a major gold extraction project in Nunavut, various mining engineering mandates for the Horne Smelter and Agnico Eagle, various plant engineering mandates for aluminum smelters, and several mining clients operating in Quebec. Your Role

As part of the Mining Industrial Projects team, you will report to the Mechanical Industrial Team Lead and will be responsible for:

• Preparing mechanical and piping plans, estimates, and details.
• Taking on the role of project lead on major projects and project manager on certain projects.
• Performing design calculations according to standards, codes, and regulations (Pump capacities, weld strength, air network sizing, etc.).
• Designing tanks, pump boxes, hoppers, chutes, etc.
• Developing and verifying piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
• Writing pre-purchase and construction technical proposals.
• Analyzing submission techniques.
• Providing technical support to technicians in project execution.

About You

• Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Excellent French and English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and modeling software, as well as proficiency in the AutoCAD suite, is a significant asset.
• Experience in the mining and metallurgy industry is appreciated.
• Field experience in construction and/or operations in an industrial environment is a significant advantage.
• Experience in the design, installation, or maintenance of piping and pumping systems is considered an asset.
• This position requires knowledge of another language besides French, namely English, as the clients and suppliers you will interact with are primarily English-speaking and located outside Quebec.
