Reporting to the Senior Director, Brand Strategy and Marketing, the Marketing Planning and Research Manager will play a key role in the company's growth and transformation projects, actively participating in the definition of marketing strategies, ensuring the consistent implementation of the brand strategy across the organization, and modernizing our research practices. This role offers strong visibility to the marketing leadership team and other functions.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategic Planning

  • Manage the marketing planning of strategic marketing projects and other multi-functional growth projects (in-store and online customer experience, new products and services, private brands, etc.)
  • Act as the guardian of the brand strategy implementation, ensuring its consistent integration across functions (marketing, operations, customer experience, digital, HR, etc.) and key touchpoints.
  • Establish and drive the annual global marketing planning process, rallying the teams and structuring the approach.
  • Align the marketing vision with business ambitions, defining priorities, strategic directions, investment volumes, and growth levers.
  • Be a driving force in the proactive identification of growth opportunities and potential threats, and influence the marketing plans accordingly.
  • Provide strategic marketing support to medium and small-scale projects.
  • Contribute to the implementation and development of a strategic culture within the marketing department.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies as needed.

Research and Insights

  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative market studies for the needs of marketing, digital, operations, and merchandising teams (segmentation, tracking, satisfaction, NPS, trends, post-test, journey, etc.).
  • Interpret data and formulate clear recommendations to support strategic decisions.
  • Prepare compelling reports and presentations for the leadership and stakeholders.
  • Integrate emerging technologies and AI solutions to improve the speed, accuracy, and value of insights (predictive analytics, process automation, trend detection).
  • Manage relationships with vendors and ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Supervise a research and insights specialist.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic planning, ideally in an agency or complex environment.
  • Strong expertise in marketing research and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the retail industry and the Quebec and English Canadian markets.
  • Intellectual curiosity combined with an analytical and strategic mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative leadership, initiative, and positive influence.
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Bilingual (French and English) - Daily contacts with internal and external partners across Canada.
  • Proficiency in research and analysis tools and platforms.
