Packaging Engineering Director

Cryopak Industries Inc. is seeking a hands-on, execution-oriented Packaging Engineering Director to lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of temperature-controlled packaging solutions for clients in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, food, and specialty products industries.

This is a leadership role for an engineering professional with strong technical expertise in cold chain packaging, thermal validation, product development, and manufacturing support. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading a team while remaining engaged in technical execution, customer requirements, lab testing, and marketing activities.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage the packaging engineering team.
• Oversee the development of temperature-controlled packaging systems, including insulated shippers, refrigerants, phase-change materials, vacuum-insulated panels, refrigerants, and cold chain monitoring solutions.
• Support the development and optimization of cold chain product families, including passive thermal shippers, reusable ice pack systems, insulated pallet covers, and temperature-controlled durable packaging.
• Oversee thermal modeling, validation activities, lab testing, and customer qualification projects.
• Develop customer-specific solutions in collaboration with sales, customer service, operations, and quality teams.
• Foster innovation, continuous improvement, cost reduction, and the commercialization of new packaging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• 7 to 10+ years of experience in engineering within the manufacturing, packaging, cold chain, pharmaceutical, medical device, or related industries.
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in leadership and management of engineering professionals.
• Strong knowledge of temperature-controlled packaging, thermal validation, product development, and lab testing.
• Experience with cold chain products, including insulated containers, vacuum-insulated panels, refrigerants, PCM refrigerants, lyophil-compatible systems, and temperature monitoring devices.
• Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks is a plus.
• Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
• Proficiency in English is required for this position, as the Packaging Engineering Director will need to lead and collaborate with teams located in Canada and the United States, participate in daily English-language meetings, and regularly communicate with clients, suppliers, and business partners worldwide.
