Auxiliary Nurse

We are currently looking for an auxiliary nurse for the Greater Montreal metropolitan area on a full-time regular basis, 37.5 hours per week, primarily from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The incumbent of the position is responsible for the first step of the patient's journey in the laboratory. The auxiliary nurse plays a central role in performing the collections with rigor, professionalism, and kindness. In close collaboration with medical technologists, imaging technologists, and the entire support staff, he/she actively contributes to the quality, safety, and efficiency of the services offered, while ensuring a positive and reassuring experience for each patient.

Main responsibilities

• Follow and rigorously apply the PONS and current biosafety rules.
• Ensure compliance with care practices and adherence to quality standards.
• Perform venipuncture collections according to the medical prescription.
• Collect relevant medical data and complete the required documentation according to current procedures.
• Inform and reassure patients about the various analyses and prenatal screenings available.
• Provide an empathetic and professional approach to patients, fostering a positive experience.
• Complete laboratory requests, identify and properly prepare specimens for shipment to laboratories.
• Perform billing of services when the auxiliary nurse is assigned to a satellite office or as needed.
• Answer telephone calls for appointment scheduling or to answer patient questions outside of collection periods.
• Provide support to the call center team when required.
• Collaborate effectively with clinic staff, medical technologists, doctors, and receptionists to ensure smooth coordination of services.
• Actively participate in maintaining a harmonious and collaborative work environment.
• Perform weekly inventory of supplies, organize materials, and rotate them according to expiration dates, and report the need for reordering.
• Contribute to maintaining order and cleanliness in work areas.
• Ensure the proper storage and transport conditions of specimens.
• Perform any other tasks related to supporting laboratory and collection center activities.

Required qualifications

• Hold a DEP in nursing or equivalent.
• Be a member in good standing of the OIIAQ.
• Experience in venipuncture collections.
• Possess a valid RCR certification card.
• Personal and professional aptitudes.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Capacity to manage urgent situations with calm and professionalism.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and priority management skills.
• Strong customer service orientation and patient satisfaction focus.
• Excellent relational and communication skills.
• Strong team spirit, commitment to continuous improvement, and high stress tolerance.
