Under the authority of the maintenance supervisor, the fixed machine mechanic will perform various tasks related to the preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance of the building's equipment.

Description

  • Perform inspection rounds, water analysis, and chemical treatment of water, and ensure the maintenance of equipment;
  • Diagnose deficiencies in systems such as coolers, heat pumps, pumps, water towers, ventilation systems, boilers, heating and steam distribution systems, heat exchangers, humidifiers, and others, identify them, and apply the necessary correctives;
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment, such as: regarnishing pumps, changing bearings, bushings, and pulleys, performing alignments, lubricating bearings, replacing sealing joints, changing transmission belts, etc.;
  • Use refrigerants (draining, filling, handling);
  • Repair and manage refrigerant leaks if any;
  • Complete and provide all necessary and regulatory reports related to refrigerants;
  • Interpret control diagrams and mechanical building plans;
  • Use a computer to intervene on automation systems;
  • Check, repair, adjust, or calibrate various components: transmitter, controller, valve, motor, positioner, probe, relay, pressure reduction valves, thermostat, etc.;
  • Ensure preventive maintenance of equipment;
  • Monitor mechanical work given to subcontractors and accompany contractors as needed;
  • Maintain logbooks and record all required values and anomalies;
  • For any emergency requiring immediate intervention, notify your supervisor as soon as possible;
  • Upon receiving an emergency call, immediately go to the scene to assess any anomaly, contact your supervisor on duty, and take all reasonable measures according to your knowledge to limit damage to the property until the required assistance arrives;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the tasks requested by the team leader.

Requirements

  • Be authorized to work in Canada;
  • Be able to pass the required security level (reliability score);
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Canada;
  • DEP in fixed machinery mechanics MMF 4A preferred or 4B;
  • Skilled in working with a GMAO system;
  • Skilled in working with the Office suite;
  • Knowledge of water, steam, and/or gas heating;
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems;
  • Basic knowledge of automation control;
  • Basic knowledge of electrical logic;
  • Able to qualify for a technical knowledge exam;
  • Able to qualify for a medical exam and a security investigation at the required level;
  • Available for on-call duty in rotation outside normal working hours.
