The Buildings Division (DI) is responsible for activities related to the maintenance and operation of the University's real estate portfolio. Our mission is to provide a real estate portfolio that meets the evolving needs of the university community, ensure the maintenance, management, development, and optimal use of buildings, as well as a safe and secure environment for users.

Your daily challenges

• Collaborate with all internal divisions of the University of Montreal's Buildings Management Department as well as with external consultants.
• Write various technical and administrative reports related to your activities and produce authenticated technical documents according to OIQ standards.
• Keep your knowledge up-to-date on codes, regulations, and the evolution of technologies related to building mechanics and the construction sector.
• Participate in the alignment of requirements for base plans for building electricity and participate in the updating of master plans for electricity and civil infrastructure.
• Develop and update procedures, performance bids, standards, general conditions, and complementary general conditions, as well as engineering and construction technical standards (GDUM) in collaboration with the concerned units.
• Act as an expert advisor by evaluating the deliverables of professionals and formulating recommendations aimed at optimizing the proposed technical solutions.

Review the technical deliverables in electricity and provide professional opinions to reduce risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain institutional standards.

Participate in data entry and simulations using the VFA software to demonstrate the reduction in the obsolescence rate of existing installations within the framework of the PAGI, i.e., the reporting to the Ministry of Education.

• Provide technical assistance on various building electricity files and participate in the resolution of operational technical issues.
• Collaborate on the development of preventive maintenance programs and carry out small-scale projects.
• Perform all other related tasks assigned by your immediate supervisor.

What you need to succeed in this role

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering specialized in building electricity.
• Knowledge in civil engineering (asset).
• Be a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of building electricity engineering (maintenance, operation, design, application, and interpretation of codes and regulations).
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the building sector.
• Good knowledge of regulations in the operation of specific buildings, specifically in electrical distribution, medium voltage networks to lighting, fire alarm systems, preventive maintenance, and an asset for knowledge of principles related to the implementation of energy-saving initiatives.
• Great ease in learning the operation of control software (Metasys, Siemens, Honeywell) and excellent mastery of collaborative tools Office 365.
