Your daily missions

About the position

At Société Générale, Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) Canada plays a key role in providing critical services to investment banking and corporate banking activities. We are at the heart of banking transformation, promoting agility, fostering a strong engineering and data culture, and accelerating decision-making through modern and industrialized delivery models. Our teams work beyond business lines and geographical areas to design innovative and scalable solutions.

In this environment, the Market Risk and Collateral (MRC) team is part of the Cross Risk Metrics (XRM) department. We design and develop platforms that support the Market Risk (RISQ) function, enabling the tracking and control of key risk indicators as well as the limits applied to Front Office activities.

Within the AMER region, you will join a growing and high-impact team working on strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Regional MRC Manager, you will lead the development activities for XRM/MRC in AMER, directly contributing to the evolution of essential risk management platforms and strengthening the region's role in global deliveries.

Your mission

Lead teams, transform platforms, and shape the future of Market Risk technologies.

As a Technical Team Lead, your mission is to drive technical excellence and generate business impact within Market Risk in a global banking environment.

You will lead and inspire a team of engineers while remaining operationally active, contributing to design, development, and code reviews. You will promote collaboration and continuous improvement through agile practices (stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog reviews), while guiding architectural decisions on a modern Azure-based platform.

A key responsibility will be to drive the evolution of the Volcker Metrics Repository (VMR) towards the strategic Metric Platform (MPT). This is a gradual migration: key features are being transferred to MPT while VMR remains critical and must be maintained in the years to come. You will define and execute this roadmap, balancing innovation and stability.

This includes transitioning from an Azure .NET 3-tier architecture to a modern data-oriented ecosystem (Java, Kafka, Data Lake, Spark), and integrating event-driven and data-centric design principles. As an operational leader, you will guide the team in developing their skills and adopting scalable and event-driven design principles.

In close collaboration with end-users, you will prioritize features and align deliveries with business needs, while promoting innovation, such as agent-assisted development.

Ultimately, you will contribute to strengthening the autonomy and expertise of the AMER region, making it a key player in global initiatives and the adoption of the Metric Platform.

Your daily tasks

In this context, you will be responsible for the following missions:

  • Lead and grow the team through agile practices (stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog reviews, sprint planning), fostering autonomy, collaboration, and high technical standards through code reviews and mentoring.
  • Drive the VMR to Metric Platform transformation, guiding the team through the transition from an Azure .NET 3-tier architecture to a modern ecosystem (Java, Kafka, Data Lake, Spark), and integrating event-driven and data-centric design principles.
  • Ensure technical guidance and architectural decisions, maintaining consistency between current Azure-based solutions and the target platform, while balancing short-term needs and long-term vision.
  • Collaborate closely with Market Risk and Front Office teams, as well as stakeholders, to prioritize the backlog, refine requirements, and deliver high-value features (PnL and risk).
  • Ensure platform stability and reliability by leading Level 3 support activities, analyzing complex production incidents, and driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis.
  • Strengthen DevOps and technical excellence: maintaining CI/CD pipelines, improving automation, managing code quality (SonarQube), addressing vulnerabilities, and adhering to internal standards.
  • Develop team skills and encourage innovation: adopting the Metric Platform, upskilling on new technologies, and introducing modern practices such as agent-assisted development.
