Food Service Manager
The Food Service Manager leads and guides the Hospitality team on a daily basis and provides assistance with routine to complex tasks. They are responsible for creating an exceptional client experience and serve as a role model by creating an environment that delivers exceptional service and quality while meeting the needs of internal and external clients. This position may also include general office tasks such as reception, copying, mail services, shipping and receiving products and supplies, sorting, distributing and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
Responsibilities
- Supervise inventory management, ensuring the kitchen, conference center, and coffee rooms are well-stocked;
- Provide exceptional client service for all events, including coordinating meeting requirements, prompt delivery of food, beverages, and catering needs, coordinating staff schedules with events, and familiarity with conference room technology;
- Track sales and manage daily reports;
- Review receipts, cash records, and cash log sheets to ensure accuracy;
- Maintain tidiness and regular maintenance and sanitation of equipment in the kitchen, lounge, and coffee rooms;
- Train and monitor the team's utilization of operational procedures for POS systems and registers to efficiently process orders;
- Work with Event Specialists to ensure exceptional service for all on-site client service events;
- Maintain food safety certification;
- May also include general office tasks such as reception, copying, mail services, shipping and receiving products and supplies, sorting, distributing and handling incoming and outgoing mail;
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Minimum of four years of experience in a food service, catering role, hospitality, or event planning role, supervisory experience preferred;
- Food safety certification;
- Certification required to serve alcohol, such as Smart Serve in Ontario.
Skills
- Applied knowledge of accepted food service industry standards regarding food sanitation, food handling and preparation, food and beverage setup and service;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment;
- Excellent coordination, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptable to change;
- Service-oriented;
- Ability to work as a team or independently;
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Applications;
- Ability to regularly lift and push objects up to 30 lbs.
