This process aims to fill 1 position for a duration of 15 to 20 weeks, depending on the progress of the mandate and the availability of the intern (full-time vs part-time, depending on your study program), from September to December 2026.

OUR OFFER

The City of Montréal is making significant efforts to reduce the impacts of frêne agrile and other pests on its urban forest and to increase the Montréal canopy. The selected person will be called upon to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to promote, follow up, and administratively control the programs for the treatment, as well as the felling and replacement of private frênes, among other greening projects.

Your Mandate

As an intern, you will respond to information requests from various clienteles regarding the implementation of the programs, as well as promote citizen participation in the programs. You will ensure the follow-up and administrative control of subsidy requests, process requests from citizens, and ensure the compliance of submitted documents in accordance with regulations and administrative standards.

Examples of tasks:

  • Respond to questions from citizens about the two subsidy programs in general and the admissibility of requests, in particular;
  • Perform administrative follow-up of subsidy requests (validation of document compliance and request tracking);
  • Prepare periodic summary tables on received requests (processing of files, covered territories);
  • Use and complete thematic maps related to the various greening programs;
  • Support the existing team to facilitate the implementation of the programs.

PROFILE REQUIRED

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree and having completed at least one year of university studies in one of the targeted fields, such as forestry, biology (ecology profile), environment, horticulture, geography, or any other related fields. Technical studies in arboriculture or master's studies in the mentioned fields will be considered an asset.

It is important to note that this internship must be completed as part of your university study program. Often, this internship earns university credits for the selected person's study file.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of issues related to the fight against frêne agrile, environmental, and administrative
  • Knowledge and experience in identifying tree species in urban environments (an asset)
  • Versatility, organizational and administrative skills, sense of autonomy, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, document management skills, writing and synthesis skills
  • Communication skills (by phone, email, or in person) with diverse clienteles
  • Good knowledge of French, both oral and written (knowledge of English, an asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Knowledge of geographic information systems and mapping software (an asset)
