We are looking for an Investigator or Investigator, Organized Crime in Retail (OCCR), Loss Prevention (LP), who will perform essential functions to protect our company from external fraudulent activities and organized retail theft. In this role, you will conduct investigations, recover losses, and participate in the prosecution of offenders, significantly contributing to the reduction of losses. You will also provide valuable insights into the changes occurring in the payment card industry and collaborate with partners to intervene quickly in cases of theft and fraud. What you will do
- Identify and apprehend individuals committing theft or fraud, focusing on repeat offenders and organized retail crime; prepare case reports, collaborate with police services, and support civil or criminal prosecutions, including testifying in court.
- Conduct mobile and real-time surveillance of the sales floor using technological tools (closed-circuit television cameras, Aspect, SGR) to gather information and contribute to case resolution.
- Analyze data and leverage system tools to identify targets and develop quick investigation strategies.
- Interview individuals to obtain relevant information; share conclusions with peers and management to improve future investigations.
- Build constructive relationships with internal LP teams and external organizations (police, courts, other retailers, banking institutions) to support case building and loss reduction.
- Monitor payment card industry trends; adapt strategies to the LP business model to prevent losses.
- Close cases effectively and communicate results to LP partners on the ground.
- Provide guidance and share your expertise with team members; focus on your personal development and seek learning opportunities.
About you
- You have completed post-secondary education in a related field or possess equivalent experience, including 2 to 3 years in a corporate fraud investigation, loss prevention for multiple stores, or a similar position targeting external fraud and organized retail theft.
- You have confirmed experience in investigations related to organized retail crime, strong knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, and experience with exception reporting systems and current closed-circuit television camera technologies; preference is given to those who have undergone training in interview and interrogation methods.
- You must hold a valid provincial security agent license or be eligible to obtain one (training is provided as needed), possess a valid driver’s license, and have access to a vehicle; the ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English) for the Eastern region is an asset.
- You demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and social interaction skills, combined with robust investigative, analytical, and problem-solving methodologies, as well as the ability to adapt quickly, influence partners, and leverage market trends to find strategic solutions.
