The Opportunity

Wajax is seeking a passionate Project Manager to join its Power Generation and Marine Sales team. The Project Manager plays a crucial role in preparing submissions and managing more complex marine projects awarded to Wajax. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, dynamic, and experienced team, and to manage projects in Power Systems of varying sizes and complexities with a range of reputable manufacturer products.

The Role

  • Establish strong relationships with clients and suppliers
  • Manage and/or actively participate in the production of technical and commercial project proposals
  • Promote a safety culture, including the strict adherence to Wajax's SSE policies and procedures
  • Manage the client contract, conduct a technical review, and prepare a risk assessment with the project team upon receiving and accepting project documentation from Business Development
  • Work with project teams to maintain or improve project profitability, as well as quickly produce financial and project status reports, including monthly project profitability reports and profit forecasts
  • Provide assistance to the sales and engineering team:
  • + Contact suppliers for pricing
  • + Manage estimation and sales Excel files and tools
  • + Manage technical documentation
  • + Assist with customer prototype testing
  • + Assist with technical solution development
  • + Assist customers with manufacturer engine and transmission installation recommendations
  • Coordinate with project teams and report on changes, risks, delays, and technical, legal, or commercial issues that may arise during the project
  • Work with the project team to develop, maintain, and monitor production and planning schedules, inspection and test plans, and progress reports in a professional project management format
  • Coordinate the acquisition of equipment and materials, including arranging quality control inspections
  • Facilitate regular communication and schedule project meetings as needed

The Candidate

  • Interest in the Power Systems domain
  • Speak and write fluently in both French and English
  • Education: College diploma or university degree in a technical field such as mechanical or electrical engineering (or related), or equivalent
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) are considered an asset
  • Work experience: 3-5 years of experience in a related field and/or in a similar role
  • Skills, strengths:
  • + Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, or equivalent

+ Leadership, planning, communication, decision-making, responsibility, customer orientation, teamwork, problem-solving, autonomy

  • Availability for occasional travel, generally domestic
