As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the project team to ensure full compliance with environmental laws, contractual requirements, and project-specific conditions and commitments.

With your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills, you will contribute to establishing a positive and proactive culture focused on environmental awareness and regulatory compliance, both within your team and across the entire Pomerleau family.

What You Will Do

• Report to the Regional Environmental Team Lead.
• Participate in the development of project-specific environmental management plans and the preparation of permit applications, while contributing to the planning of work by ensuring the integration of environmental requirements into execution documents.
• Provide environmental awareness training and environmental intervention simulation activities to project personnel, including subcontractors.
• Participate in on-site kick-off meetings and work coordination meetings.
• Support construction teams to ensure environmental compliance of projects by sharing best practices and recommending improvement opportunities.
• Accompany construction teams in implementing soil and water sampling plans in accordance with provincial and federal directives and contractual requirements, to collect data on environmental quality that can serve as performance indicators.
• Accompany construction teams in responding to environmental emergencies that may or may not impact receiving environments and in communicating with government authorities.
• Consider the Environmental Management System in the performance of duties, monitor performance indicators, and contribute to achieving corporate environmental objectives.
• This position is for you if you have:
• Completed a post-secondary program in environmental sciences, forestry, engineering, biology, geology, or a related field.
• Possess relevant experience of 3 to 5 years in the environmental field, ideally in the construction industry or a related field.
• Have a good knowledge of provincial and federal environmental laws and regulations.
• Have a good knowledge of ISO 14001 standard and the Environmental Management System.
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in environmental management on construction sites, particularly in civil engineering, notably in the management of contaminated soils and water management.
• Be both self-sufficient and capable of working effectively in a team.
• Possess the ASP Construction occupational health and safety certification.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be available and able to travel to perform construction site visits in eastern Canada, including Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
