Production Design Manager

As a Production Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production design activities, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, quality standards, and project timelines at Davie during the production design phase. As the technical liaison between Davie and the subcontractor, the role holder ensures that functional design elements are converted into production-ready deliverables, adhering to Davie's standards, fabricability requirements, and production strategy. Specifically, you will:

• Monitor and guide the subcontractor's production design activities to ensure compliance with Davie's specifications, standards, and work instructions.
• Ensure that all production deliverables (2D drawings, 3D models, work packages) are correctly derived from the approved functional design and meet quality requirements.
• Review and approve production design documentation in accordance with the project governance framework, in collaboration with the Technical Manager.
• Serve as the engineering point of contact on-site between Davie and the subcontractor's design teams.
• Maintain effective communication and continuous alignment with Davie's Technical Manager regarding design maturity, technical issues, and change management.
• Represent Davie at coordination meetings, design reviews, and problem-solving sessions with the subcontractor.
• Support the subcontractor in developing optimized and feasible production deliverables, including structural and layout drawings, digital models, and work instructions.
• Ensure the integration of all disciplines (structure, piping, CVC, electrical, etc.) into deliverables, in line with the construction strategy.
• Track the issuance of production documents according to the project schedule and deliverables register.
• Implement quality control points and review processes to prevent errors and rework in production documentation.
• Ensure compliance with classification rules, contractual requirements, and Davie's engineering processes.
• Facilitate the integration of production feedback, lessons learned, and fabricability improvements into the design process.
• Produce regular progress reports, risk analyses, and report critical issues to Davie's Engineering Management.
• Monitor the status of deliverables, non-conformities, and ongoing technical actions.
• Support audits, reviews, and client interactions on-site, as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in naval construction.
• College diploma or equivalent in a related field.
• Strong knowledge of naval production processes.
• Ability to work autonomously with confidence while managing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in both French and English (oral and written). English proficiency is required for this role, as you will interact with anglophone suppliers, partners, or clients.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization.
• Successful completion of the security clearance process required under the Federal Contract Security Program.
• Knowledge of ship systems, outfitting, and naval construction.
• Experience with AVEVA Marine Engineering or a similar tool would be an asset.
• Experience with AutoCAD or PLM/PGI systems would be an asset.
• Experience in planning would be an asset.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Ability to process information quickly and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high efficiency.
• Ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams and across the organization to achieve common goals.
• Successful completion of the security clearance process required under the Federal Contract Security Program. (Minimum of 5 years of uninterrupted residence in Canada, with no breaks of 6 consecutive months).
