Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Pharmacy and customer service.
  • Welcome all customers entering the pharmacy.
  • Practice within the framework of federal and provincial regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Ensure all confidentiality requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
  • Offer consultations on prescription, over-the-counter, and behind-the-counter medications.
  • Utilize your full range of practice to provide professional services, within your capabilities.
  • Be clearly identifiable by the public.
  • Ensure the accuracy and relevance of all executed prescriptions.
  • Communicate with other healthcare professionals in the care circle to provide customer service.
  • Keep all required files up to date in accordance with legislation, practice standards, and policies.

Operational Procedures and Stock Management

  • Control access to the dispensary regarding stocks and patient confidentiality.
  • Examine and update daily operational procedure queues.
  • Regularly examine "to call" bins, in accordance with established normal operating procedures.
  • Review stocks to identify expired stocks.
  • Monitor current stock levels and wholesaler medication orders.
  • Ensure all documentation and substance control requirements under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and regulations are met and report to Health Canada and regulatory bodies.

Operations

  • Ensure entry and pickup workstations, consultation and waiting areas, and work islands reflect an appropriate image of the pharmacy.
  • Participate in the production of financial reports, as applicable.
  • Read and execute store communications on Intra-mag.
  • Write incident reports when incidents involving a customer's or staff member's medications or confidentiality-related incidents occur.

  • Ability to think and make decisions; make decisions when resolving issues.
  • Plan, coordinate, and delegate tasks and provide supervision to pharmacy colleagues.
  • Proven ability to stimulate and develop business, lead by example, and support company programs.

  • Superior customer-related skills and great professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in developing and implementing action plans.
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy systems, an important asset.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Follow mandatory training and optional continuing education workshops, as needed.
