The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill University is seeking exceptional candidates for a tenure-track position in Oceanography and Earth Systems. The position should be filled at the Assistant Professor level, and the successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program, mentor graduate students, and demonstrate strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A PhD in Physical Oceanography or a related field is required.

Job Functions:

The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences maintains close ties with the departments of Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Geography at McGill University. In the Greater Montreal region, we also maintain ties with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Ouranos, and UQAM. Access to high-performance computing will be provided by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.

Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who wish to conduct research in Physical Oceanography strongly focused on modeling, observation, or theory. Possible research areas include, among others, ocean-atmosphere coupling, interactions with the cryosphere, coastal processes, Arctic Oceanography, ocean dynamics, and the role of the ocean in climate and climate change.
