PETAL Caseworker

*Logifem is committed to providing support and housing to vulnerable women and children, allowing them to feel at home, heal, and rebuild their lives. We offer accommodation in two residences for a maximum stay of one year and have transitional apartments where the stay can go up to three years. Each woman is followed by a psychosocial caseworker. The needs of the residents are very varied and can be related to mental health, immigration status, domestic violence, isolation, financial difficulties, parenting skills, and many others.*

Responsibilities

The PETAL caseworker works with individuals in precarious residential situations or at risk of losing housing due to an eviction request at the TAL by their landlord for non-payment of rent. In collaboration with the team at the Father's House, she assesses eligibility for the PETAL Rent Assistance Bank and follows up on the administrative procedures related to it. She also provides psychosocial support aimed at stabilizing the residential journey, preventing homelessness, and accessing appropriate resources, according to the needs and goals of each participant.

Reports to: Director of Programs and Services for Users

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid break.

Salary: $25.15/hour. This salary is established under a partnership with the Father's House and is outside the Logifem salary scale.

Work Location: Tribunal administratif du logement (TAL), located at 5199, rue Sherbrooke Est, in Montreal.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with the hearing role and the cases scheduled for the day;
• Welcome individuals referred by the triage;
• Contact individuals referred by the triage, internal services, external partners, and referents;
• Conduct psychosocial and residential evaluations to identify immediate needs, vulnerability factors, and risks of residential instability;
• When necessary, work to relocate participants into new housing;
• Contact landlords and act as a mediator to prevent a loss of housing;
• Support participants in their administrative and financial procedures;
• Refer/orient participants to the health and social services network and/or community resources to meet their psychosocial needs;
• Prioritize interventions according to the level of precarity, risk factors, and profiles of participants;
• Ensure regular follow-ups with participants according to the intensity of needs;
• Maintain a sustained support link to promote short- and long-term residential stability;
• Reassess psychosocial and residential needs during follow-up;
• Document interventions in the clinical and administrative tools provided;
• Write progress notes and update files;
• Compile data needed for program statistics, reports, and accountability;
• Participate in clinical meetings, team meetings, and reflection spaces on practices;
• Build and maintain partnerships with community actors.

Working Conditions

• Fixed-term position linked to the PETAL project;
• Work locations in the TAL offices at the Olympic Village;
• Work in collaboration with project partners, including the Father's House, OBM, and TAL.

Required Qualifications

• College or university degree in a relevant field for psychosocial intervention;
• Experience in psychosocial support, housing, homelessness, or intervention with vulnerable individuals;
• Good knowledge of the community network, health and social services network, and issues related to residential precarity;
• Knowledge of the particular realities of women in vulnerable situations;
• Ability to assess needs and establish intervention priorities;
• Relationship skills, listening ability, autonomy, and clinical judgment;
• Strong oral and written communication skills in French and English (English is required to communicate with anglophone participants, especially for safety reasons in case of crisis and for psychosocial follow-ups);
• Ability to work in partnership and act in consultation with various actors;
• Good writing, file management, and data compilation skills;
• First Aid and CPR training, an asset.
