Reporting to his/her immediate supervisor, the Housekeeping Director is responsible for ensuring the comfort and well-being of guests by providing a quality stay through the cleanliness and impeccability of the rooms and the establishment. To do this, he/she organizes, coordinates, supervises, and controls the activities of the housekeeping service to meet the needs and expectations of guests and ensure the efficiency and profitability of the service.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the management of human resources in the department (hiring staff, training, work schedules, performance evaluation, etc.);
- Plan staffing needs according to occupancy rate and work to be done;
- Plan and coordinate the work of housekeeping staff and crew members;
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards of the establishment;
- Supervise and support housekeeping staff;
- Apply and enforce department and company policies and procedures;
- Manage conflicts within the department;
- Participate in the management of financial and material resources (inventory management, equipment and housekeeping supplies management, procurement management, negotiations with suppliers, etc.);
- Work closely with other departments of the establishment;
- Ensure the cleanliness of rooms and the establishment by conducting inspection rounds;
- Ensure guest satisfaction during and after the service;
- Participate in housekeeping tasks;
- Perform all other related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- DEC in hotel management (an asset);
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in housekeeping management;
- Experience as a housekeeping staff member;
- Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
- Bilingualism (English and French);
- Advanced English proficiency required since these positions work with an anglophone tourist clientele;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Have a strong interest in customer service;
- Skills for human resources management (team management, conflict management, etc.);
- Demonstrate professional attitudes (teamwork skills, autonomy, versatility, initiative, organizational sense, etc.);
- Be results-oriented;
- Knowledge of guest needs;
- Demonstrate leadership;
- Excellent decision-making skills;
- Have a good tolerance for stress and working under pressure;
- Skills for verbal and written communication;
- Have a good knowledge of hygiene and health and safety standards related to the department;
- Have a concern for detail and well-done work;
- Have an excellent capacity for effective time management;
- Ability to manage priorities;
- Be in good physical condition.
