Home Care Companion

At Alzheimer Society of Estrie, our approach is centered on maintaining the autonomy and dignity of people affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related condition. The goal of our home care service is to stimulate the cognitive, physical, and social functions of the person with neurocognitive disorders while providing a moment of relief for the close caregiver.

We are currently looking for home care companions to provide relief at home within the Magog Regional County Municipality (MRC).

Main Tasks

• Provide relief service to caregivers and a care and stimulation service to people affected by Alzheimer's disease or another cognitive disorder;
• Adopt a humanistic approach by offering activities to the affected person according to their interests and needs for cognitive, physical, sensory, or emotional stimulation.

Requirements and Qualities

• Have good listening and empathy skills;
• Sense of organization, resourcefulness, creativity, and sociability;
• Have a computer at your disposal;
• Possess a car and a valid driver's license;
• Be available for a minimum of 12 hours per week (4 to 10 care sessions);
• Have relevant training or experience in home care for the elderly or vulnerable clients (an asset);
• Be proficient in English (an asset);
• Have a valid first aid course certificate (RCR) at the time of hiring (an asset);
• Be comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) (an asset).

Working Conditions and Benefits

• Work at home with clients;
• Part-time (between 18 and 24 hours per week);
• Meetings made with the same clients each week;
• Salary starting at $20 per hour, depending on experience;
• 13 paid holidays, 2 health and well-being days;
• 3 weeks of vacation in the first year;
