We are currently looking for people to fill the following position: ELECTRICIAN A2 PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Permanent Position

Under the supervision of the division foreman for building maintenance, the electrician performs, alone or in a team, various maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and/or construction tasks in electricity in the different buildings and parks of the City. He must monitor and optimize the operation of the electrical equipment under his responsibility.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure the proper functioning of electrical equipment throughout the City's territory;
  • Perform various repair and construction tasks in electricity;
  • Identify the causes of failures and restore the systems;
  • Carry out the commissioning and shutdown of electrical systems in places open to the public;
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the lighting in parks and buildings;
  • Read and interpret the Electrical Code to determine the compliance of municipal electrical installations and follow updates;
  • Assume part or all of the responsibility for the refurbishment, modification, or repair of the City's electrical installations according to the codes, regulations, or laws in force (periodic inspection by the RBQ);
  • Participate in the elaboration of the preventive maintenance program in his specialty and ensure its update; Emergency lighting, Thermography, emergency exits.
  • Propose improvements and make rough estimates of different tasks to be performed;
  • Ensure the supply of materials for the realization of tasks;
  • Supervise, coordinate, and organize, if necessary, the work of apprentices, helpers, and laborers;
  • Complete the work orders related to his job for the building department, driving hours, etc.;
  • Collaborate with other trades;
  • Perform any other tasks related to his job as required by his supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a professional studies diploma in construction electricity or any other equivalent training, in accordance with letter #3 of the current collective agreement;
  • Hold a valid journeyman's card or a qualification certificate in electricity issued by Emploi-Québec;
  • Hold the constructor-owner license in electricity from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec or commit to obtaining it within twelve (12) months, in order to be qualified to be responsible for the City;
  • Hold a valid Class 3 driver's license or commit to obtaining it within twelve (12) months;
  • Hold the ASP construction card or commit to obtaining it within twelve (12) months;
  • Demonstrate manual skills and practical knowledge for maintenance and construction work;
  • Have a team spirit and initiative;
  • Good knowledge of reading plans;
  • Know and respect safety rules;
  • Demonstrate judgment and have a sense of responsibility.
  • SALARY AND CLASSIFICATION

According to the collective agreement of municipal blue-collar employees.

  • Classification 490: Hiring between 33.77$/h and 38.69$/h, according to experience and established recognition criteria; Salary scale progressing up to 41.19$/h;
  • Working hours: 40 hours / week, Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm including 30 minutes paid for lunch
  • Stable job for the year;
  • Access to all social benefits provided for in the collective agreement: Collective insurance; Pension fund; Annual leave bank of 10 days of sick leave or family reasons;
