Reporting to the Director of Customer Experience and Planning, the Demand Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving the demand planning process to support the growth of the manufacturing company in the metals sector.
In a context of transformation aiming to evolve the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process maturity from level 1 to level 3, the role holder acts as the main responsible for the unconstrained demand plan, the quality of forecasts, and the animation of the consensus process with the sales teams.
The role requires strong influencing capabilities, effective communication, a developed analytical mindset, and ease in evolving within a changing environment where processes are still in development.
Your main responsibilities:
Demand Planning
- Develop and maintain the unconstrained demand plan for short, medium, and long-term.
- Produce and improve base forecasts using historical data, market trends, seasonality, and business indicators.
- Collect and improve pipeline-based forecasts with the sales team using opportunities, risks, confidence levels, and gaps to close.
- Prepare and communicate to S&OP1 the results of forecast accuracy, the 18-month demand plan, the gaps to address, and decisions to make.
- Understand the evolution of forecasts according to different markets (Transport, Construction, Machinery) and analyze the gaps between forecasts, actual orders, and realized sales.
- Identify risks and opportunities that may influence future demand.
- Ensure the integrity, quality, and reliability of forecast data.
S&OP Process
- Organize and facilitate Pre-S&OP 1 meetings with sales, marketing, and business development teams.
- Challenge commercial assumptions and ensure a data-driven forecasting process.
- Lead and facilitate S&OP 1 – Demand Review meetings.
- Produce performance indicators related to demand (Forecast Accuracy, Forecast Bias, MAPE, etc.).
- Prepare recommendations and scenarios for the subsequent steps of the S&OP process.
- Contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of the process to achieve a world-class S&OP maturity level.
- Influence decisions using decision-lever scenarios.
Continuous Improvement and Transformation
- Collaborate with commercial sales to offer a simplified and effective process.
- Actively participate in the development of processes, tools, and planning governance.
- Promote the adoption of best practices in Demand Planning and IBP/S&OP.
- Develop analyses enabling better decision-making.
- Act as a change agent for stakeholders.
- Support digitalization and automation initiatives for forecasts.

Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in operations management, administration, industrial engineering, logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in demand planning, integrated business planning (S&OP), or supply chain.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing, evolving, or optimizing an S&OP process.
- Experience in a B2B manufacturing environment, ideally in the metallurgy or industrial transformation sectors.
- Good knowledge of demand planning principles, demand-related performance indicators, and best practices in planning.
- Excellent proficiency in Excel, data analysis tools, and ERP or planning software (knowledge of D365 is an asset).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills for multidisciplinary teams without hierarchical authority.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Initiative, autonomy, and ability to effectively navigate complex, ambiguous, and transforming environments.
- Business sense, results orientation, and willingness to challenge the status quo to continuously improve processes and performance.
