Reporting to the Production Director, the Technical Supervisor – Packaging Operations ensures the daily coordination of operations surrounding packaging equipment and machines while providing technical support to production equipment. They supervise a team of 5 to 10 operators, oversee their training, development, and adherence to work procedures. They also contribute to the smooth functioning of equipment by making necessary adjustments, performing first-level troubleshooting, and carrying out minor repairs to ensure safe, efficient, and quality- and food safety-compliant production.
Main Responsibilities
Operations Supervision
- Supervise, lead, and motivate a team of 5 to 10 operators.
- Organize daily activities to ensure adherence to the production plan.
- Allocate tasks according to operational priorities.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Training and Development
- Train new employees on equipment and work methods.
- Ensure uniform application of operational procedures.
- Serve as a resource person for technical questions.
- Technical Support for Equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections.
- Diagnose simple mechanical issues.
- Perform minor repairs and required adjustments.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team on major interventions.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at equipment reliability.
- Quality and Food Safety
- Ensure adherence to HACCP, SQF/GFSI procedures and requirements.
- Verify the compliance of products and production parameters.
- Participate in investigations of non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
- Health and Safety
- Apply and enforce health and safety at work rules.
- Participate in risk identification and preventive measures.
Education
- DEP in Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or any other relevant education.
- A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food sector.
- Experience in supervising or coordinating a work team.
- Experience with automated packaging equipment.
- Knowledge
- Knowledge of industrial mechanics.
- Ability to perform diagnostics and minor repairs.
- Knowledge of HACCP and SQF/GFSI standards. (asset)
- Good command of basic computer tools.
