Summary
As a Transport and Customs Technician at Optel, you will play a key role in coordinating the national and international transport of shipments while actively contributing to inventory management. You will have the opportunity to combine office responsibilities with practical tasks related to handling and tracking goods.
The routine? Very little for us! Every day is different, and you will evolve within a dynamic, collaborative, and growing team.
Main Responsibilities
- Receive shipment requests and ensure all information is available (delivery address, tax ID, customs broker, contact details, etc.);
- Validate customer delivery requirements;
- Book reservations with carriers according to schedules;
- Assign packaging to the shipment calendar while ensuring available capacity is respected;
- Track shipment dates with various teams;
- Prepare shipping identifiers;
- Monitor shipments daily and provide updates to internal and external clients;
- Process submissions with carriers;
- Verify customs classifications (HS codes) and update the database;
- Complete the necessary documentation for shipment in accordance with customs requirements and make any necessary changes;
- Determine packaging needs for systems (measurements and plans);
- Place orders for boxes (creating the PO and submitting the request);
- Place orders for packaging materials and other departmental consumables;
- Verify and approve purchased material invoices;
- Review monthly projects to be shipped;
- Perform any other related tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education (AEC/DEC) in transport and logistics or international trade.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in international trade or customs compliance.
- Knowledge of Incoterms according to the type of transaction.
- Advanced English level (oral and written).
- Results-oriented and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple files in parallel with rigor.
- Adaptability, versatility, and flexibility in a growing and constantly evolving environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn, particularly regarding new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
