What are your contributions to the team?
In this role, you will lead the CEM section within the Functional Engineering, Systems, Research, and Technology department at Bombardier. At Bombardier, the electromagnetic compatibility team is responsible for ensuring the safety of our aircraft against electromagnetic threats, including electromagnetic interference (EMI), high-intensity radiated fields (HIRF), low-intensity radiated fields (LIRF), lightning, and electrostatic discharge. We ensure that our aircraft meet all associated regulatory requirements. Our team supports all Bombardier products.
- Execute several complex engineering projects related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatic discharge, including detailed analyses using similarity evaluations, simulations, and/or analytical methods.
- Contribute to solving electromagnetic problems to support CEM certification and support activities, including production and in-service aircraft.
- Define the scope of work required for the CEM team towards engineering projects. Plan activities/milestones, highlight technical risks, and execute tasks according to priorities.
- Analyze the addition, design, or modification of systems or structures to evaluate technical impacts for engineering and propose CEM compliance approaches. Examine technical engineering documents such as test plans, analysis reports, and test reports. Verify compliance with certification rules and recommend for approval.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and interns.
- Support the creation and updating of technical requirements at the aircraft, system, and structure levels for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatic discharge.
- Represent the EMC team at multidisciplinary meetings. Collaborate with internal and external suppliers, partners, and clients.
- Support the implementation of process and best practice improvements at Bombardier.

- You have an advanced understanding of relevant industry standards (RTCA/DO-160, SAE ARP) and a high level of knowledge of airworthiness regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA) and advisory documents related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatic discharge.
- You are comfortable working in a team and can interact with other functional domains, including airworthiness, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to achieve common goals.
- You work autonomously to achieve established goals for yourself and your team.
- You are considered a specialist in at least one aspect of CEM and have demonstrated in depth and breadth your knowledge and skills in other CEM areas. You are recognized by your peers as a resource person in the CEM field.
- You have experience in major project and design reviews and are capable of identifying technical, schedule, and budget risks related to CEM.
- You possess excellent problem-solving skills and are capable of applying your expertise to find creative solutions within a multidisciplinary group.
- You have good oral and written communication skills, can effectively communicate achievements and challenges to technical and non-technical leadership. French is an asset.
- You have preferably participated in at least one (1) aircraft development program.
