About the opportunity
The Real Assets & Infrastructure (RAI) team within the Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) AMER division at Société Générale is looking for a Senior Credit Analyst (Vice President) based at the Société Générale office in Montreal.
The role is responsible for the continuous management of credit risk for a complex portfolio of project financing across the Americas, covering the sectors of energy (electricity production, renewable energies, midstream and downstream oil and gas, energy transition) as well as metals and mining.
The role is primarily focused on post-closing credit risk management, including tracking transactions, analyzing and processing amendments and waivers, annual portfolio reviews, and close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Origination (business lines), Risk, and Legal teams, among others.

Within CPM, the Real Assets and Infrastructure (RAI) group plays a key role in managing credit exposures related to major projects in the energy, metals and mining, and infrastructure sectors. RAI is responsible for tracking the performance and risk profile of complex project financing transactions throughout their entire lifecycle, from the construction phase to operations. With its sector expertise and rigorous portfolio management practices, RAI contributes to the success of major projects while protecting the bank's interests and optimizing capital allocation.
Your responsibilities
As a Senior Credit Analyst within the CPM RAI team, you will be responsible for the independent management and oversight of credit risk for an assigned portfolio of project financings in the energy sector (renewable energies, battery storage, midstream and downstream oil/gas, energy transition) as well as metals and mining, covering the entire post-closing lifecycle, including:
Continuous credit tracking
- Monitor counterparties and underlying projects, including construction progress, operational and financial performance, and compliance with contractual obligations
- Identify early warning signals and contribute to watchlist registration and provisioning assessments for high-risk transactions
- Participate, as needed, in the management of troubled or underperforming credit files
Periodic credit reviews and risk assessments
- Prepare annual credit reviews, including financial analysis, cash flow model reviews, rating evaluations, and prospective risk analysis
- Assess debt service capacity, liquidity, structural protections, and overall credit quality
- Prepare quarterly reports for underperforming assets
- Propose internal classifications and ratings for borrowers
- Analyze and process requests for amendments, waivers, and consents, including evaluating the impacts of project and documentation changes, and drafting credit memos with recommendations
- Participate in the integration of *tax equity* counterparties, including credit evaluation and transactional documentation review
- Manage the term conversions of project financings, including post-conversion credit profile analysis, repayment of loans related to tax credit transfers and *tax equity* structures, and continuous monitoring considerations
- Coordinate internal approval processes with Risk and Origination / Business Lines teams
Portfolio governance and reporting
- Prepare quarterly portfolio reviews, including watchlist reports and risk comments
- Contribute to portfolio dashboards and exposure analyses by sector, region, and risk rating
- Support regulatory reporting requirements (including *Shared National Credit*) as well as internal and external audits
- Support secondary market transactions and other portfolio risk transfer operations
- Provide ad hoc support to senior team members, including portfolio analyses and transaction-specific information preparation
Stakeholder relationships
- Interact with borrowers and agents, as applicable, on post-closing matters, including information requests, compliance, and transaction-related discussions
- Collaborate closely with Origination, Risk, Legal, Middle Office, and Asset Recovery teams

Desired profile
Essential requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project financing or structured financing, gained in a banking, advisory, or sponsor-side environment (investment funds, developers, etc.)
- Hands-on experience covering the entire lifecycle of project financing, including construction and operations phases
- Strong financial analysis and credit analysis skills, including cash flow modeling and risk assessment
- Excellent understanding of project financing structures and documentation, including credit conventions and financial clause mechanisms
- Ability to manage multiple files and priorities autonomously in a demanding and deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to formulate clear and concise credit analyses
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Advanced English proficiency, both orally and in writing, to collaborate regularly with borrowers, sponsors, internal teams, agents, independent engineers, and external legal advisors
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to effectively use AI-integrated tools to improve financial analysis, research, and document review while adhering to credit judgment principles, data confidentiality, and professional responsibility
Strongly desired assets
- Experience in the energy sector (including renewable energies) and/or in the metals and mining sectors
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, sector trends, tax credits, and *tax equity* structures
- Previous experience in credit portfolio management
