STUDENT JOB in Landscape Architecture

• To hold a student position in the public service, you must be enrolled full-time in a program of study (or part-time if you are in the penultimate or final session of your program of study) *

• The challenges we propose to you:

You will join a multidisciplinary team of environmental and landscape professionals within the Technical Support Direction at the Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility. You will be tasked with providing landscape architecture support in several major metropolitan projects, including the Turcot and Saint-Pierre Interchanges. Your tasks will be carried out in the office and on-site to support the landscape architecture team in fulfilling its mandates.

In the context of this position, you will have the following tasks:

• Visual analysis of the Saint-Pierre Interchange;
• Assistance in monitoring landscape improvement works;
• All other tasks related to your area of expertise.
• Maximum weekly hours of 14 hours during study sessions;
• Maximum weekly hours of 21 hours during reading weeks;
• Maximum weekly hours of 35 hours during the summer and holiday periods.
• Compensation, working hours, and working conditions:

The minimum hourly rate is $28.23, and a 6.5% surcharge is added to this rate to compensate for certain social benefits.

The salary scale will be determined at the time of hiring based on the candidate's experience.

• The compensation is determined based on the relevance of your additional education and experiences related to the position. Therefore, it is important to detail them in your application form, which will serve as a reference.

In addition to working during the day, Monday to Friday, the position offers a flexible schedule, promoting the balance between work, studies, and personal life, with adapted hours: Under certain conditions, the duration of your student position may be extended.

Finally, it is possible that at the end of your studies and under certain conditions, you may participate in a special selection process to access a regular or temporary position.

The profile we are looking for

• Skills in research, analysis, and writing;
• Autonomy and organizational skills;
• Adaptability and team spirit;
• Good mastery of office tools (Word, Excel);
• No experience required.

Requirements to hold the student position

• In addition to meeting the above profile, you must:
• Be enrolled full-time (or part-time if you are in the penultimate or final session of your program of study), in one of the following fields of study: Bachelor's degree (BAC), Landscape Architecture
• Be at least 16 years old as of June 30 of the current year;
• Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;
• Be legally authorized to work in Canada;
• Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.

IMPORTANT: Only students who are members of the Quebec Order of Architects (OAQ) as candidates for the profession of architect (CPA) can be matched to the architects' job class. Otherwise, the student or intern will be matched to the physical sciences specialists class.

Desired assets

• Identification of plants and invasive plants;
• Knowledge of the Autocad software;
• Possession of a valid ASP Construction Health and Safety card.
