We are currently looking for a qualified person to fill a permanent position as an Electrician Technician at the Building Management Service.

THE CHALLENGES

In the context of this position, your mandate will consist of planning and carrying out technical activities related to the maintenance of electrical equipment, as well as various projects for sustainability, decarbonization, electrification, and energy savings in buildings.

More Specifically, You Will Be Called Upon To

  • Write requests for proposals related to maintenance and improvement work and decarbonization;
  • Prepare and follow up on maintenance contracts for generators and UPS: Read reports, make corrections, etc.;
  • Implement a preventive maintenance program for electrical entries, main substations, and motor control centers (MCC) including frequency inverters (VFD) in critical city buildings: Thermography, cleaning, and tightening of components, etc.;
  • Plan and supervise the categorization of electrical entries in accordance with the Arc Flash Z-462 standard;
  • Coordinate, plan, and follow up with Hydro-Québec: Temporary connections, power outages, replacements, or modifications of electrical entries;
  • Place orders for materials;
  • Provide technical and functional assistance to the personnel of your administrative unit or, if necessary, to other City services;
  • Plan and follow up on work carried out by electrical contractors, fire alarm contractors, etc.;
  • Become familiar with and provide comments on construction plans in the relevant disciplines for new construction projects: Electrical plans, alarms, cameras, access, etc.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Hold a college diploma in electrical engineering technology and have at least four (4) years of experience that have allowed you to acquire the knowledge and skills required to master the tasks of the position. Any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent may be considered;
  • Master the principles of project management. Have a good capacity to work in a team, innovate, and take on a leadership role in your field of expertise;
  • Have very good knowledge of the methods and techniques used in construction, the laws, codes, and standards governing the field of activity;
  • Have good knowledge of the principles of sustainable development and the implementation mode in Building Information Modeling (BIM);
  • Be familiar with the software used in the field: Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), SharePoint, etc.
  • Possess other appropriate personal skills and qualities, such as autonomy, initiative, the ability to innovate, tact, diplomacy, and a sense of customer service;
  • Hold or be able to obtain a construction safety card;
  • Hold a valid driver's license. The person holding this position will be called upon to use their vehicle in the performance of their duties.
