ROLE

Under the responsibility of the Customer Service Director, the Night Auditor is responsible for providing outstanding and distinguished service to guests. Among other things, he/she is responsible for welcoming clients at night, providing customer service, and reception operations, as well as administrative closing and report preparation. The Night Auditor is called upon to listen and resolve problems, when required, while maintaining a high level of professionalism towards guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Night Auditor may be called upon to work night shifts or evenings as a reception agent. He/she is responsible for:

  • Providing excellent service to guests, welcoming them warmly, and anticipating their needs;
  • Executing warmly the arrivals and departures of guests, reservations, modifications, or cancellations;
  • Providing clients with explanations and information regarding the room features and amenities, equipment, services, and operating hours of the hotel;
  • Offering information about the city and suggesting activities of interest;
  • Managing complaints in a positive and professional manner;
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service;
  • Performing all the accounting tasks of the night audit and completing daily reports;
  • Following the procedures and policies established by the hotel;
  • Balancing cash and credit cards;
  • Performing the day's closing in the system;
  • Performing various tasks and projects daily;
  • Planning and organizing reservations from emails, phone calls, fax, and websites, keeping up-to-date records of available rooms;
  • Ensuring the safety of the premises and guests at night;
  • Making important decisions in case of emergency;
  • Forwarding special requests from clients that could not be addressed to the reception supervisor on duty;
  • Demonstrating discretion and respecting the confidentiality of guests;
  • Projecting a neat and professional appearance; wearing the uniform according to the establishment's standards;
  • Performing any other related tasks when requested.

Skills & Qualifications

  • French, English spoken and written. Knowledge of a third language, an asset;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and different accommodation software (Opera an asset);
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times;
  • Possess a sense of organization and attention to detail;
  • Possess good analytical and accounting skills;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal qualities and strong customer service skills;
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to listen empathetically to the needs or complaints of guests;
  • Capable of making decisions and resolving problems on their own;
  • Able to work standing for long hours;
  • Ability to occasionally lift loads of 10 to 25 pounds and/or ability to carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing 25 pounds frequently.

Education & Experience

  • Professional or college training in hospitality, tourism, accounting, or a related field;
  • Experience in a customer service position for at least one (1) year;
  • Experience as a hotel receptionist, an asset.
