To demonstrate our expertise in tunnels and underground construction across the country, EBC is looking for new team members ready to participate in major projects throughout Quebec.

Under the supervision of the Vice President, Major Projects – Tunnels and Underground Construction, the Project Director plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, and controls, alone or with project managers, the simultaneous execution of one or more construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be responsible for the preparation of submissions and the execution of projects. The signing of tenders is the responsibility of the assigned vice president;
  • Negotiate agreements with subcontractors, sign letters of intent after discussion with the vice president, verify agreements with subcontractors, and sign them;
  • In collaboration with project managers and supervisors, ensure that the work performed meets the established standards and objectives in terms of quality, safety, labor relations, quantity, schedules, and costs, and take corrective measures when required;
  • As needed, assist the vice president in negotiating contractual terms with clients;
  • Monthly verification and revision of all cost controls with project managers under his supervision and reporting to the vice president;
  • Assign personnel to sites in accordance with human resources policies and monitor the productivity of resources under his responsibility as well as operating costs;
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by paying particular attention to safety, costs, schedules, and work quality;
  • Ensure the application and compliance with EBC's health and safety programs as well as specific programs for each site;
  • Ensure compliance with the company's quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) system in accordance with the applicable ISO standard;
  • Monitor ISO procedures with operational personnel;
  • Manage project kick-off meetings, periodic reviews, project reviews, and participation in planning reviews;
  • Discuss legal or dispute issues with the vice president and ensure adequate documentation;
  • Perform any other task required within the scope of his mandate;
  • Evaluate personnel under his responsibility in accordance with company policies.

EXIGENCES

  • University degree or technological studies diploma in engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the industry;
  • More than 15 years of experience in the construction industry;
  • Experience in civil construction, particularly in tunnels, underground construction, deep wells, soil stabilization, metros, and railway infrastructure;
  • Extensive experience in tunnels is a significant asset;
  • Demonstrated track record of project success and team leadership;
  • Excellent knowledge of tunnel construction methods;
  • Good knowledge of geology and geotechnics;
  • Solid experience in the execution of large-scale projects carried out in partnership;
  • Significant experience in alternative project delivery methods (design-build, PPP/P3);
  • Excellent knowledge of financial management as well as building codes and applicable legislation;
  • Good computer skills and experience with scheduling software.
