Technical Manager – Packaging

The Technical Manager – Packaging acts as the primary point of contact between Galderma and external suppliers for all technical aspects related to product packaging and manufacturing processes. The product portfolio is primarily composed of semi-solid cosmetic products.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Interface with External Suppliers and Internal Stakeholders

• Ensure technical interface with external suppliers (CDMO) and internal stakeholders.
• Lead validation and verification activities for packaging in collaboration with external partners.
• Support root cause investigations related to packaging deviations and conditioning processes.
• Drive process and packaging changes and improvements to optimize costs, supply security, and/or product quality.
• Lead or act as a technical expert (SME) for packaging product transfer activities.
• Conduct problem-solving activities, Lean initiatives, and workshops with suppliers to improve conditioning processes and yields.
• Ensure that packaging data from the External Supply Organization (ESO) is kept up-to-date in the appropriate systems and databases.
• Ensure the updating of Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor the capabilities and robustness of assigned CDMOs as an expert in packaging capabilities, capacity issues, and performance.
• Ensure smooth flow of knowledge and information between functions and concerned sites.
• Interface with Development Teams
• Develop new product packaging with suppliers in accordance with Galderma's standards.
• Collaborate with CDMOs to improve and optimize existing packaging.
• Ensure technical excellence during the commissioning of new manufacturing or conditioning equipment, when used for Galderma products.
• Ensure and support the transfer of R&D activities to Operations teams, particularly regarding: technical documentation; development reports; scale-up reports (pilot and industrial).
• Ensure that all operational needs are adequately covered during the transfer.
• Technical Management of the Product Lifecycle
• Act as a product expert and be responsible for assigned semi-solid products.
• Review and approve manufacturing specifications and other technical documents (nomenclatures/BOM, protocols, reports, etc.).
• Provide technical support to Development teams and other MS&T departments regarding assigned products to contribute to the company's global objectives.
• Be responsible for technical activities related to product lifecycle management (LCM), including: process modifications; raw material changes (RM); packaging material modifications (PM).
• Support Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams during audits, regulatory submissions, document reviews, investigations, and deviation management.
• Collaborate closely and effectively with cross-functional teams: R&D, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Purchasing, and manufacturing sites.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in primary and secondary packaging of semi-solid products; experience in sterile product packaging is an asset.
• Experience in the cosmetic industry or within a pharmaceutical company is strongly desired.
• Good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Distribution (GDP).
• Proven experience in project management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in an international and matrix environment.
