The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President and Head of Litigation, the incumbent will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and following up on legal documentation.
Main Responsibilities
Draft and review lease offers, leases, modifications, relocations, and assignments, as well as correspondence and other related documents such as cancellation and renewal contracts.
- Prepare and validate legal documentation such as leases, sublease agreements, and related documents.
- Verify, correct, and approve various agreements prepared by the leasing service.
- Prepare Tenant Data Entry Forms.
- Negotiate leases and related agreements with tenants and tenant attorneys.
- Consult and coordinate with leasing agents, the construction service, the accounting service, the center director, and the regional manager when preparing various legal documents.
- Conduct research on restrictions related to the preparation of lease offers, leases, and other legal documents.
- Develop and maintain standardized templates and clauses to optimize organizational efficiency.
- Respond to internal and external requests regarding the interpretation of contractual provisions.
- Provide support to the Operations team for the management of payment defaults and terminations.
- Perform various other administrative tasks related to tenant requests, center directors, or other internal services requiring research or work.
Education and Experience
We are looking for a dynamic, organized, autonomous, and meticulous individual.
- College diploma in legal techniques
- 7 years of relevant experience in the real estate field
- Excellent writing skills
- Good proficiency in Office 365 suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Bilingual, French and English, to be able to draft leases and other agreements in English as requested by tenants and other parties to a contract. Additionally, the paralegal must communicate with national tenants, their brokers, and other parties to a contract based outside of Quebec.
