During the proposal and execution phases of projects delivered in alternative modes, the Senior Design Coordinator manages design lots within a large-scale project or manages the entire design of a project of size and technical complexity based on their expertise.
What you will do
- Familiarize yourself with the documents provided by the client during the proposal phase and/or the project documents during the execution phase (design-build contract, contracts with professionals, client technical estimates, etc.);
- Coordinate the professionals involved (architects, engineers, and specialized consultants) during the development of the design;
- Ensure that the production of deliverables meets the established objectives and schedules;
- Manage technical questions and answers received from the design teams;
- Manage technical documentation and reviews using a document management system;
- Transmit drawings and necessary technical information to the estimation department, as well as to the suppliers and subcontractors involved in the project;
- Optimize the design (alternative analysis, value analysis, etc.) considering the impacts on the schedule and costs, while ensuring the constructibility of the concepts with the construction team;
- Participate in design review committees with all stakeholders, prepare minutes if required, and follow up on action items;
- Ensure that the chosen modeling method (BIM) is correctly implemented and used, collaborating with all stakeholders;
- Monitor client requirements by facilitating communication between different disciplines;
- Collaborate with the construction team for the review of information requests, shop drawings, and site instructions.
- This position is for you if you have
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field;
- Membership in a professional order (OIQ, OAQ, etc.);
- At least 5 years of experience in a design development role or a relevant role;
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, innovation, and rigor;
- Strong knowledge of virtual design and construction (BIM-VDC) approach;
- Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, good judgment, and excellent communication skills;
- Ability to effectively collaborate with all members of the project team;
- Comfortable in a fast-evolving environment and good stress management;
- Good knowledge of English.
