As a Principal/Lead Data Integration Specialist, you will autonomously contribute to various initiatives by creating data engineering solutions for analytical purposes while supporting your team. You are responsible for delivering operational value by creating, maintaining, and implementing downstream data solutions (e.g., ingestion, transformation, and databases) throughout the software development lifecycle and effectively communicating said value to business stakeholders.
How You Create Impact:
- Work efficiently with data engineering tools: general-purpose languages used in data engineering or business intelligence and related frameworks or interfaces, data collection and processing, and development and operations platforms.
- Debug, analyze, and resolve complex database and SQL-related issues to ensure optimal performance and stability.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and analyze the root causes of SQL performance issues and data discrepancies.
- Contribute autonomously to data quality assessment and the design of automated controls.
- Define and build data solutions (data model, data pipelines, APIs, etc.) and support others in their execution.
- Mentor and support team members by sharing technical expertise, development best practices, and industry standards.
- Develop analytical solutions effectively to address business problems by understanding the role of data in reports, metrics, predictive models, and other analytical solutions within the business intelligence environment.
- Contribute to the design of analytical solutions considering scalability, automation, security, long-term maintainability, and performance.
- Apply and promote software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including code reviews, testing, deployment standards, solution monitoring, and operational support.
- Thoroughly understand the insurance domain (metrics, ICP, key concepts), operational objectives, and how your tasks contribute to achieving business objectives and their links to them.
- Communicate conclusions autonomously and effectively to business stakeholders.
- To Join Our Team:
- You have 4 to 7 years of experience in data engineering/integration or a related field.
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- You have experience in solving complex problems by adopting a fresh perspective on existing solutions, demonstrating judgment based on the analysis of multiple information sources, and formulating clear recommendations for improvement.
- You have excellent knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programming, modeling techniques, data warehousing, data management, research, architecture, and design.
- You possess strong knowledge of the following areas: data engineering and integration, data modeling techniques, data warehousing, data management and governance, and SDLC practices.
- You have hands-on experience in developing and supporting enterprise data solutions using modern cloud technologies such as SQL, Python, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), GitHub, and/or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with the following technologies is considered an asset: Databricks, Apache Spark / PySpark, Delta Lake, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI.
- You have experience in designing and implementing logical and physical data models for analytical and operational reporting solutions.
- The person in this role primarily works with non-French-speaking groups and teams outside Quebec. Therefore, English proficiency is mandatory. Essential tasks requiring knowledge of a language other than French cannot be reassigned to other team members.

Expected Salary Range: $83,774 - $133,700+ (minimum and maximum, full scale).
The salary of the selected candidate is determined by Co-operators at its discretion and varies based on several factors, including: local market conditions, geographic region, and relevant factors related to the position, such as knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and training.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation based on individual or company performance, or other business measures.
