Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Technology, Services, and Innovation, the Systems Administrator will provide internal IT support in areas such as end-user support, Microsoft 365, identity management, applications, workstations, and technology infrastructure. This person will handle internal IT support requests, support company users, maintain essential systems, and contribute to internal IT improvement and automation projects.
This is an intermediate-level position for someone with strong practical IT support experience, good knowledge of Microsoft 365, and the ability to troubleshoot both user and server-side issues.
Internal IT Support
- Provide quick and effective support regarding desktops, laptops, mobile devices, applications, access, printers, VPN, and collaboration tools used by employees.
- Handle internal IT tickets from start to resolution, including documentation, communication, and escalation when required.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, account creation, device setup, and access modifications.
Microsoft 365 and Identity Management
- Administer and troubleshoot issues related to Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, licenses, groups, security settings, and user access concerns.
- Support Entra ID, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, permissions, and digital identity incidents.
- Participate in the configuration, governance, documentation, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 services.
Systems and Infrastructure
- Ensure support for Windows devices and, when required, macOS, iOS, and Android environments.
- Manage the device lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, updates, troubleshooting, and retirement.
- Manage workstation policies, software deployment, patches, and compliance using terminal management tools such as Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, file services, permissions, backups, monitoring tools, and virtualized infrastructure.
- Diagnose common server issues, including authentication, file access, permissions, performance, services, connectivity, backups, and business applications, and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Ensure daily maintenance of security best practices, including access reviews, workstation protection alerts, patch compliance, account security, and initial incident triage.
- Report security risks or suspicious activities according to internal procedures.
Projects, Automation, and Continuous Improvement
- Participate in internal IT projects, upgrades, migrations, process improvements, and system deployments.
- Keep documentation, operational guides, knowledge base articles, and standardized procedures up to date.
- Use PowerShell, automation tools, and AI-powered workflows to improve repetitive tasks such as employee onboarding and offboarding, ticket routing, report generation, documentation, device management, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Support the internal adoption of AI-powered productivity tools when relevant.
- Demonstrate openness to experimenting with AI solutions to improve IT documentation, troubleshooting, and service delivery, while adhering to company security and governance standards.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in IT support, systems administration, or internal IT.
- Strong practical experience in end-user support, workstation management, business applications, and Microsoft 365.
- Good knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy Objects (GPO), permissions, and access management.
- Experience in troubleshooting workstations, applications, networks, VPN, printers, devices, and collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of backups, patch management, monitoring, endpoint management, and IT documentation.
- Basic experience in scripting or automation, ideally with PowerShell.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to support users with varying technical skill levels.
Assets
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Defender, or other endpoint management platforms.
- Knowledge of Azure / Entra ID administration beyond basic user management.
- Experience with Power Automate, PowerShell, or workflow automation.
- Experience with AI-powered productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or similar solutions.
- Experience in a hybrid work environment.
- ITIL Foundation certification or practical experience in IT service management.
- Experience with backup, monitoring, ticketing, remote management (RMM), or IT asset management tools.
Education and Certifications
- College or university degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Industry-recognized certifications (Microsoft, networking, security, virtualization, etc.).
