We are looking for a housekeeping supervisor to oversee the operational management of the housekeeping department and ensure a positive guest experience. Reporting to the assistant director of housekeeping, the supervisor must provide exceptional and personalized service. Working on variable hours, the supervisor ensures a memorable experience for our guests through effective personnel management and the ability to motivate and support their teams, while also maintaining effective intra and interdepartmental communication.
The position is part-time, with 30 to 40 hours per week. The successful candidate must also be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist in personnel management within the departments: Welcome and integrate new associates, ensure proper associate training, distribute work, schedule shifts, evaluate housekeeping staff performance, conduct necessary disciplinary follow-ups, motivate staff, apply collective agreements, etc.
- Monitor material resources of the service (inventory management, equipment, and housekeeping supplies);
- Ensure the overall cleanliness of the establishment by conducting inspection rounds;
- Conduct room inspections;
- Ensure compliance with departmental standards;
- Manage guest complaints, if necessary;
- Enter housekeeping orders into Birchstreet;
- Ensure health and safety at work follow-ups;
- Work closely with other hotel services;
- Apply and enforce service and hotel policies and standards;
All other related tasks.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in housekeeping administration or a similar role in a 4-star hotel. Relevant training or experience will be considered.
The candidate must also possess:
- A diploma in hospitality or tourism studies;
- Perfect bilingualism (French and English, both spoken and written);
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities (team spirit);
- Demonstrate autonomy and initiative;
- Leadership and decision-making skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations;
- Ability to build trust quickly and consequently provide outstanding customer service;
- Be proactive and go beyond guest expectations;
- Be meticulous and pay close attention to details;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities (ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously);
- Excellent stress management;
- Ability to work on variable hours;
- Possess excellent computer systems and hotel software knowledge (Microsoft, Birchstreet, Synergie, and Opera).
