As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will inspect, evaluate, train and provide technical support for work crews to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety program and agency regulations.

This role is a night shift position, and you will be assigned to our Québec project: the Île d’Orléans Bridge.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safe execution of construction activities through safe work planning, rescue plans, inspections, and audits.
  • Provide incident response and investigation to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, site policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Establish a Job Hazard Analysis in addition to other workplace safety measures such as emergency response plans, fall protection, traffic control, and work permits.
  • Participates in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, pre-activity meetings, incident reviews, and emergency response exercises.
  • Contributes to the creation of standards, processes, and practices.
  • Inspect project work areas and recommend corrective action.
  • Intervene and investigate incidents occurring on-site and document them.
  • Provide in-field coaching and training to personnel.
  • Mediate health and safety issues to resolution.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive culture.
  • Collaborate with the superintendent in the event of disciplinary action.
  • Complete daily reports and relevant sub-files (e.g., daily interventions, number of workers, accidents, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

  • CNESST certification is required.
  • Occupational health and safety course for construction sites (ASP Construction).
  • Hands-on experience in heavy civil construction in a field environment.
  • Experience and/or certification with the following: Traffic & Mobility codes, Ice Water Rescue, open water, barging, training in fall protection, cranes and rigging is preferred.
  • Demonstrates competency in Safety Management Systems and safety-based behaviour as part of safety culture.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to effectively engage craft, supervise, and manage.
  • Proven self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude.
  • Autonomous and resourceful.
  • Mobile and adaptable.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Availability to work night shifts.
