Gersol is a subsidiary of Collette, founded 48 years ago, and specializes in the production, sale, and transportation of natural and manufactured sand. It operates three sand quarries and primarily serves clients in the construction sector.
Over the years, Gersol has developed complementary services related to transportation, maritime work, sediment management from dredging, machinery rental, and storage.

Purpose of the Position
At Gersol, we want to entrust the finances and administrative tasks of the company to a person who will take care of them on a daily basis.
Your role will be to keep the accounting up-to-date, monitor deadlines, manage governance obligations, and advance various files to their conclusion. You will take the time to understand what exists, update what needs to be updated, and establish a clear and consistent way of doing things.
The management team can rely on you to know where things stand, what is coming up, and what deserves attention. You will provide a clear reading of the financial situation and support management in the decisions that follow.
You will not start from scratch. You will find tools, ways of doing things, and knowledge of the company on which to rely. Your mandate will be to take up the thread, simplify what can be simplified, and ensure stable management of the function.
Your Mission
Keep the accounting up-to-date and provide accurate information
- Perform bank reconciliations and monthly entries;
- Account for amortizations, incurred expenses, and tax withholdings;
- Prepare monthly financial statements and explain the main elements;
- Verify and approve payroll;
- Approve payment of invoices;
- Produce monthly remittances of GST, QST, and DAS;
- Reconcile sales, production, and sand inventory.
Know what is coming and prepare for it
- Monitor cash flow and upcoming payments;
- Track customer and supplier accounts and payment delays;
- Conduct credit inquiries;
- Prepare the end of the financial year and provide the required documents to the accounting firm;
- Respond to questions and requests from the accounting firm;
- Supervise tax audits.
Take care of the company's administrative files
- Monitor bonds, authorization certificates, and commercial insurance;
- Manage insurance claims;
- Ensure shareholders' insurance;
- Keep the heavy vehicle registry and registration and insurance files up-to-date;
- Monitor the equal pay dossier;
- Ensure the renewal of permits and registrations, including with the AMP, SAAQ, RBQ;
- Manage obligations related to health and safety standards and mutual funds.
Manage external governance obligations
- Monitor reports and progress towards corporate objectives with shareholders;
- Establish performance indicators for project management, including cost tracking.
Simplify what can be simplified
- Review internal controls and clarify ways of doing things;
- Improve the use of existing software;
- Continue the transition to paperless management (including quarry operations);
- Implement simple, easy-to-maintain tracking;
- Organize information so that it remains accessible and easy to resume.
Desired Profile
- You have solid and practical experience in accounting and financial management within an SME;
- You can rely on your rigor, judgment, and consistency to keep files up-to-date and complete follow-ups;
- You know how to put things in order calmly and then establish simple ways of doing things;
- You enjoy working with a human, respectful, and cheerful team;
- A CPA designation will be considered an asset.
