The Tax Incentives Group is seeking an accountant to join its team at KPMG's office in Montreal for a leadership position. The group brings together a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, accountants, and tax professionals who help clients achieve tax savings through incentive programs such as the Research and Development Experimental Program (R&D) and Clean Energy Tax Credits.
The group provides specialized advisory services to companies across all sectors, helping them optimize their R&D claims and access other federal and provincial incentive programs throughout the lifecycle of a project.
What You Will Do
- Review, analyze, and document clients' financial records to support R&D and other federal and provincial incentive claims.
- Assess project eligibility and prepare defensible financial justifications in accordance with R&D program guidelines.
- Prepare and review work files to support financial justifications and the calculation of federal and provincial tax credits.
- Plan, manage, and execute multiple projects simultaneously, according to deadlines and budgets.
- Establish and manage client relationships while interacting with project teams and tax authorities.
- Conduct research, perform analyses, and write notes on tax-related issues concerning incentives, including cost-benefit analysis.
- Stay up-to-date on tax laws, case law, and emerging trends related to the R&D program and other incentive regimes.
- Lead internal initiatives to improve operational efficiency and supervise, mentor, and support team members.
What You Bring to the Role
- Minimum of five years of experience in professional accounting.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with incentive programs and government funding within a professional services environment is an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet service delivery goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Professional judgment and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and management.
This position requires written and oral fluency in English, as it involves the interpretation and application of standards, guidelines, laws, and regulations in English, providing services to English-speaking clients across Canada, and collaborating with English-speaking colleagues outside Quebec.
