YOUR ROLE AT CDS :

The incumbent participates in the design and 3D modeling of industrial equipment, including research and development (R&D) projects. The role involves performing required technical calculations, selecting and sizing key mechanical components, maintaining engineering documentation (CAD drawings, bills of materials, assembly procedures), and ensuring drawings are delivered according to project timelines. The position also contributes to design reviews and provides support to manufacturing activities. As part of the quoting process, the incumbent may assist in preparing project proposals, evaluating costs and delivery timelines, and meeting with clients when required.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform 3D modeling of industrial equipment;
  • Develop 3D models for industrial equipment related to R&D projects;
  • Perform various engineering calculations as required (material strength, motor power, etc.);
  • Select and size key mechanical components;
  • Maintain the bill of materials (BOM) required for equipment manufacturing;
  • Deliver drawings in accordance with established project timelines;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of common manufacturing processes such as welding, turning, and milling;
  • Participate in design reviews;
  • Maintain up-to-date 3D CAD and 2D drawings;
  • Create jigs, fixtures, and assembly method documentation;
  • Archive all engineering documentation for each project;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Quotations and sales

  • Travel to customers;
  • Participate in quotations for special projects;
  • Evaluate quotation costs and delivery times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in machinery design;
  • Member of the *Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)*;
  • Fully bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidEdge and/or SolidWorks) is preferred;
  • Knowledge of automation and common manufacturing processes such as welding, turning, and milling;
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and an innovative mindset.
