Reporting to the Senior Manager, Maintenance and Engineering, the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability and optimization, while developing and implementing maintenance best practices across the company’s sites located in Quebec, British Columbia, and Florida (Belle Glade). The successful candidate will play an active role in the continuous improvement of maintenance processes, preventive maintenance programs, and technical support for operational teams to ensure the performance, safety, and profitability of VPAG (Vegpro Agriculture) and VPEL (Vegpro Vegetable Packaging), divisions of Vegpro International Inc.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all VPAG and VPEL equipment across multiple sites in Quebec, British Columbia, and Florida (Belle Glade).
- Assume responsibility for equipment reliability by ensuring the effectiveness of corrective and preventive maintenance activities within a continuous improvement framework.
- Document and improve equipment maintenance procedures and management processes across VPAG and VPEL operations.
- Identify training needs, provide recommendations, and develop training tools and materials, including POKA documentation.
- Audit the quality of maintenance work performed and the management of work orders within the maintenance management system.
- Promote a safe, collaborative, and positive work environment.
- Coordinate external maintenance work, maintain strong relationships with suppliers and strategic partners, and ensure effective follow-up on assigned projects and initiatives.
- Manage supplier programs to maximize the cost-effectiveness of maintenance and service contracts.
- Facilitate the extraction and analysis of maintenance data to support future equipment selection decisions based on reliability and lifecycle maintenance costs.
- Lead and support special projects as required.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical support to electromechanics at the vegetable packaging facility, as needed.
Main Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong passion for continuous improvement within the agricultural industry.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, analytical thinking, initiative, autonomy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and passport, with the ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is required; knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
