Job Responsibilities
Lead Generation
- Be responsible for prospecting at least 1 to 2 hours per day.
- Network and build community and civic relationships.
- Explain and present to families served and referred families.
- Maintain and track activity levels to ensure productivity.
Build Relationships with Families
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful, sensitive, and professional manner.
- Establish links with families through listening, honest communication, and genuine concern.
- Develop an understanding of each family’s unique needs and offer solutions that provide value to them.
- Stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction.
- Prepare for all appointments and perform all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Follow up on all issues and requests raised by clients.
- Obtain referrals to offer protection to family members, relatives, and friends, by educating them on the benefits of pre-planning.
Teamwork
- Consistently build relationships and work cooperatively with the Funeral Director and other funeral home and/or cemetery staff.
- Collaborate and team with funeral directors, location managers, and other members of funeral home and or cemetery staff, to provide seamless, high-quality service.
- Review previous services and contacts with families to prepare to support current needs and/or sales.
- Minimum Requirements
Education
- High school education or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years of college or equivalent experience
License
- Current province-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Experience
- Sales experience or one to two years industry experience or equivalent education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Occasionally work nights and/or weekends each month.
- Drive frequently.
- Flexible hours, but sometimes up to 12 hours in a day.
- Treat others with empathy and respect.
- Computer and software knowledge.
- Customer service skills.

Considering the work environment associated with this position, the following factors may apply:
Work Environment
- Work is primarily indoors
- Standard work attire required
Work Postures
- Continuous sitting for several hours per day, up to 6 hours per day
- Frequently climb stairs to access buildings
Physical Requirements
- Physically demanding, requiring manual dexterity, including the use of documents, calculators, computers, and the telephone
Working Hours
- Work beyond "standard" hours as needed
- Minimum travel required
Salary
- The estimated total target for this position in the first year typically ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 annually, considering a strong commission-based incentive structure and base pay. In subsequent years, sales professionals commonly earn $100,000 to $150,000 or more annually. Actual compensation will vary based on individual performance, geographic location, and applicable business conditions.
(Note: The position includes an hourly rate of $16.60 as part of the total compensation structure.)
