Reporting to the Corporate Store Development Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations for our corporate stores across Canada.

This role involves developing and maintaining safety programs, conducting inspections, and training staff in the secondary automotive market where customer interaction, mechanical operations, dangerous goods transportation, and hazardous materials management on the job site are daily concerns.

  • Ensure all stores comply with safety and fire safety (OHS) standards (or local equivalent)
  • Monitor the proper handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials such as oils, lubricants, batteries, etc.
  • Conduct routine site inspections
  • Identify potential hazards (e.g., environmental safety risks, chemical exposure) and recommend corrective measures
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and hazardous conditions
  • Document findings, maintain incident logs, and track preventive actions
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for store teams
  • Review reports received from governments or organizations and implement corrective measures if necessary
  • Support the deployment of health and safety initiatives and campaigns across various sites
  • Maintain records of training, inspections, incidents, and regulatory filings
  • Serve as a resource for storing equipment for safety reasons
  • Coordinate with HR and store managers to align on health and safety goals with company objectives.

Essential expertise and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental sciences, or related field
  • CHSC, CRSP, or any other relevant certification (asset)
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in a safety role, ideally in the automotive, distribution, transportation, and/or multi-site environments
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), training, and audit skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and safety reporting systems
  • Ability to travel between multiple locations across Canada
  • Bilingual in English and French required
