Reporting to the Distribution Center Director, the Night Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for dynamically mobilizing their shift team, planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the weekly staffing distribution to meet and exceed budgetary forecasts.
More specifically, the candidate will be required to
- Supervise a team of managers and unionized employees under their responsibility.
- Develop team members and encourage self-improvement.
- Plan activities for their sector in collaboration with other Shift Supervisors.
- Manage key performance indicators of their team of managers and employees, propose solutions for productivity optimization, specifically at the goods reception.
- Conduct individual and team meetings to keep the team informed, motivated, and performing.
- Develop and maintain a high level of collaboration with colleagues in the distribution and other business lines.
- Manage special situations regarding health and safety, work quality, and employee supervision.
- Communicate and encourage the shift's adherence to Sobeys' culture, placing great importance on transparency, authenticity, and customer satisfaction (internal and external).
- Continuously seek improvements and innovations to optimize operational processes and team development, while being proactive in interactions with other sectors.
Desired Profile
- You hold a bachelor's degree in administration, operations management, or equivalent, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the distribution field (any other combination of studies and experience deemed equivalent will be considered).
- You have experience in managing and supervising managerial staff in a unionized environment.
- You are proficient in using various computer tools related to the operations sector and the Microsoft Office suite.
- You are committed to coaching your employees and encourage the consultation of those around you.
- You rigorously follow up, have a keen sense of responsibility, and place great importance on planning.
- You effectively manage your time and priorities, have a high learning pace, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
